Retreading Skid Steer Tires

The casings are 12-16.5 PRIMEX BOSSMAN GRIPSTEEL II L-4+ and delivered over 400 hours original service.  This tread design is for use on paved and unpaved roads on vehicles that run at low speed, allows self-cleaning of the tread (mud, sand, stones), provides excellent drive power and greater protection against casing damage.

Will be put back into service for another 400+ hours and retreaded again!

Tariffs Support Retread Revival

The article below explains very clearly why LOW COST IMPORTS FROM CHINA must be controlled…if not completely stopped from disrupting world markets.

“The rise of low-cost Chinese truck tyre imports in Europe has been well documented in the pages of various issues of our ongoing series of Retreading Special supplements. The resultant risks affecting the industry have led to pan-European awareness-raising and lobbying efforts at a European level. This in turn resulted in a European Commission (EC) investigating and on the impact of Chinese truck tyre imports on European retread sales, which began late last year. Then product registration began in February 2018. The latest news marks something of a victory for retreaders in their bid to revive the business as now we know that tariffs of between 52.85 euros and 82.17 euros per tyre are being applied to all truck and bus radials imported into Europe from China.”

Vipal VZY2 Evaluation

In January 2018, CasingSource.com, LLC initiated a retreading evaluation for a waste management service provider in Florida.

(16) 315/80R22.5 Vipal VZY2 (23/32) retreads are being tested against (16) new Chinese imports (22/32).

After the seventh weekly reading, the first vehicle tracking results show the Vipal VZY2 is averaging 944 miles per 32nd versus the low-cost new import which is averaging 653 miles per 32nd.

The second vehicle tracking results show the Vipal VZY2 is averaging 1,058 miles per 32nd while the low-cost new import data is now inconclusive because of premature failure.

The United Steel Workers Union filed a reply brief with the USCIT (United States Court of International Trade) on 11/28/2017 in the USW’s challenge to the negative final injury determination by the United States International Trade Commission in the truck and bus tires from China cases.

Dear Senator ,

Effective enforcement of U.S. trade remedy laws is very important to the U.S. retread tire industry and to our company in particular. Retreading commercial truck tires in the United States is a 3 billion dollar industry that has significant economic & environmental benefits to our nation.

Premium, high quality truck and bus tires are made to be repaired, retreaded and run several hundred thousand miles before having to be replaced. The importation of low quality truck tires from China that can’t be retreaded and are sold at below fair market value threatens well over 100,000 U.S. jobs in the retreading and related industries and is, unnecessarily, sending millions of used tires to our landfills. Retreading commercial tires recycles hundreds of millions of pounds of raw materials each year. Retreading is Recycling!

We have seen a significant loss of business from a rising tide of imports of truck and bus tires from China that can’t be retreaded and for there to be effective enforcement, it is critical that the agencies that administer the laws (the Commerce Department and the International Trade Commission) be fully funded and have a full complement of political appointees. 

It is my understanding that the International Trade Commission currently has only five of six Commissioner Slots filled and two of those still serving are past the original term of their appointment. I understand that the President has nominated three additional individuals for Commission positions. 

We urge the Senate Finance Committee to consider these nominees expeditiously and for the full Senate to hold a vote on any nominees who are voted out of the Finance Committee without delay.

After the fifth bi-weekly reading, the first bus tracking results show the Vipal DV-UM3 is averaging 1,557 miles per 32nd versus Marangoni UTWR which is averaging 934 miles per 32nd.

The second bus tracking results show the Vipal DV-UM3 is averaging 1,854 miles per 32nd versus Marangoni UCSD which is averaging 927 miles per 32nd.

The Vipal DV-UM3 is an application specific design for the transit industry and is proving beyond a doubt it’s superiority in tread wear and cost-per-mile.
